With over 20 years of management experience, Patricia Whitlow was appointed President of Safeway Transportation in November, 1997. During Patricia’s time at Safeway the company has experienced exciting new growth, and has consistently exceeded industry safety and customer service standards. Patricia is a native Detroiter and is passionately involved within the community.
Patricia received a Bachelor’s of Science in Accounting from the University of Detroit and is a Certified Public Accountant. Prior to Safeway she worked as an accountant for both public and private companies.
Patricia is a proud member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. and enjoys spending her down-time with her family, as well as sewing and reading.
Ms. Wilhelmina Cleveland started her career with Detroit Public School as a Bus Attendant and was assigned to Safeway from 1975-1997. After retiring from Detroit Public Schools, she was hired by Safeway directly as a Terminal Manager.
In 2001 she was appointed to Student Behavior Coordinator, and has since worked to ensure that our students are aware of school bus safety and proper riding procedure.
Ms. Cleveland’s primary responsibility is to serve as a liaison between Safeway, the Schools and the Parent. Her work is crucial in facilitating constructive communication between all three parties so that our goal for students to have an enjoyable and safe ride to and from school each day is always met.
John Wirth began his career with the U.S. Army as a vehicle mechanic in 1988. After 10 years of service he was hired at Greyhound Lines in Richmond, Virginia as a mechanic. Throughout his tenure at Greyhound, John held numerous positions of increasing responsibility, and was then recruited by Shuttle Bus Leasing in Yuma, Arizona as a Regional Director. Mr. Wirth relocated back to Virginia where he spent the past seven years working for Transdev Services in management roles.
Safeway Transportation was introduced to Mr. Wirth in July 2015 and are very proud to have him on our team, currently serving as the Garage Manager.
Dominique Sykes began her career with Safeway Transportation in September, 1995 and has proven to be an integral part of the Safeway Family. She has held positions of increasing responsibility throughout her tenure, and was promoted to Office Manager in 2010.
Born and raised in Detroit, Dominique’s passion for her community shines as she continues to empower and support the students we serve on a daily basis.
Outside of the office, Dominique enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, sewing and cooking.
Shanda Hicks was hired in May of 2001 as the Field Trip Coordinator and brings a strong sense of community to the team. Growing up in Detroit Shanda has a vast knowledge of the local school system and is able to quickly and effectively assist our students’ transportation needs.
Shanda graduated from Specs Howard School of Broadcasting in December, 2014 and enjoys spending time with her family and traveling.
