FROM TAXI CABS TO SCHOOL BUSES
Clayton Hood, Mathew Rucker, Frank Ferrill, John Martin, Richard Pinkston & Jonathan Parker paved the way. On June 1, 1975 Safeway Transportation was formed by several local taxi cab owners in order to provide transportation services to the special needs students of Detroit Public Schools.
Over the years, we have grown from 12 buses and 15 employees to over 85 buses and 100 employees. Our partnership with Detroit Public Schools and dedication to the safety of our children enables us to continue serving, supporting and providing employment to our beloved Detroit community.
Safeway Transportation is proud to announce that our partnership with Detroit Public Schools has expanded to include over 80 routes through 2020.
Thanks to our continued partnership with DPS, we are looking to bolster our workforce by adding 30 Detroit area employees.
